Peacefully with his family at his side at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on Sunday, June 26, 2005. Bruno Pigeon (founder and former owner of Bruno Pigeon Jewellers) of Alexandria; age 81 years. Beloved husband of Blanche Pigeon (nee Legault) and cherished father of Jacques E. Pigeon, Q.C. (Anne-Marie Gravelle) of Ottawa and Claudette Pigeon (Ernest Wattie) of Cornwall. Special grandfather of Lynn and Karen Wallace. Dear son of the late Elzéar Pigeon and the late Délima Théoret. Dear brother of Rev. Father Léo-Paul Pigeon, o.m.i., Béatrice MacKenzie (Angus) and Émile Pigeon (Marie-Lourde Vincent). Predeceased by four brothers, René (Flore), Doris, Jean-Charles (Marie-Ange) and Roméo (Marguerite) and by one sister, Irène (Rev. Sr. Clementina, Holy Cross Sisters). Bruno will be sadly missed by all, including his brother-in-law, Elzéar Legault (Mary), sister-in-law Rita Legault (Léo) and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main Street South, Alexandria, (525-2772) on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria, on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Finnan’s Cemetery. In his Memory, Memorial Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Bruno, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows Memories live.

Voici une courte biographie fournie par Léo-Paul Pigeon, omi, frère de Bruno Pigeon.

Bruno a fait son école primaire à l’École séparée anglaise Alexander d’Alexandria. Il entre au Collège Saint Alexandre de la Gatineau à Limbour pour trois années d’études. (Pères de Saint Esprit) :1936-39. Pendant les quatre prochaines années, Bruno suit un cours de barbier et travaille à Ottawa. A vingt ans, il revient à Alexandria pour y être barbier pendant 32 ans. Il fait l’acquisition de la maison au 27 Garnish en 1949. Ici sont nés Jacques et Claudette. Entre temps Bruno s’occupa de politique municipale et servit comme échevin pendant 11 ans. En 1968, il fait l’acquisition du magasin Laporte et y ouvre une bijouterie. Il y fera vente et réparation. Celle-ci, l’accaparant tout entier, Blanche devint gérante du magasin. Cette deuxième carrière les occupa tous les deux pendant pas moins de trente six ans.

Bruno et Blanche prirent une retraite bien méritée en 1988. Bruno n’allait pas quitter facilement son métier: il a toujours boutique au 90 Dominion à Alexandria en Ontario, maison acquise en 1979.
